First Time Riding

We have now had Ollie for one and a half weeks now and he is now ready to ride. At the moment we are borrowing a saddle whilst we find one that actually fits him.

Yesterday (31st may 09) I decided to ride him, so I caught him in from the field, gave him his breakfast, groomed him then tacked him up. (he looks so cute in his tack)

once i got on him, he wanted to go, he was pulling but i wasn't ready so i pulled the reigns and told him to stand whilst i adjusted my stirrups and tightened my girth. I then walked him on towards the road to go out on the great flat load, ollie was so exited, he had his bum in the hedge and he was pushing himself forward so i told him to trot until we got to the great flat load. (he is bouncy) I opend the gate then shuted it behind us. the ground was good so we canterd past the tree and arround the corner where i told him to walk again because the ground got harder. A rustling in the bushes spooked him and he shyed i then calmed him down then a badger ran out infront if us but Ollie wasn't scared so we walked on.

when it came to the next gate Ollie spooked so this time i jumped off an opend it and closed it behind him. he was fine after that. the last canter track and Ollie was raring to go, I nudged him into gallop but i must have nudged to hard because he galloped and then lepd over a standing pile of leaves it was so fun.

We were both wxausted after that ride.

New horse Oliver Twist

This is Ollie. only brought him yesterday 19/5/09. he now lives in his own field with horses in sight and touch. He also has his own grass that he doesn't have to share.

We spent hours preparing his field and stable.

He finaly arrived later on, Bluey and Molly was going mad. Bluey jumped his field into Mollies field. They both went in
he fence to say hello, they spent 10 munites whining at each other before they started to learn each others scent and become freinds.

We took bluey out of the field to groom him. Tamaren took Bluey back to his own field while i got my headcoller to see if it would fit him, i also got his rug because it was about to rain and he has a hunter clip so without it he would get cold.

When tamaren had put bluey put in the field, Ollie got exited and ran under the electric fence then molly started to kick him (lickily he is a horse that would hurt) when thay had calmed down me and Shannon distracted Molly whilst Tamaren had caught Ollie with the lead rope. She brought him outside the field and i put the headcoller on him (perfect fit) and his rug. we put him back in his own field and Molly and Bluey started galloping around the field with exitement. I then whent into Ollies field and made sure he couldn't get under the fence.

Ollie was just piggin out.
